Industrial Deafness
In this case our client had worked in heavy industry for over 16 years and was never provided with any ear defenders despite the noisy working environment.
He visited his GP when he realised that his hearing was deteriorating and after tests, he was diagnosed as suffering from noise induced hearing loss.
Derek dealt with this case from our Belfast office and although he was successful in recovering compensation for the client it was a very difficult case to deal with.
The client had worked for two different companies over the years and one of them had gone into administration since. In addition to this, the insurance company involved were difficult to deal with and Derek had to issue court proceedings before he was able to recover compensation for this client.
